America's leaders are drawn from fraternities. It is where young men learn the three covenants of loyalty, protection and silence. Academic studies show certain fraternities are responsible for 50 to 90% of gang rapes on campuses. This needs to change.

Extra! Extra! The NC legislature passed SB199 today overturning several loophole in NC's sexual assault law. It is no longer legal to proceed with sex when permission has been withdrawn and it is illegal to have sex with someone who is incapacitated. Period. It doesn't matter if she became incapacitated under her own steam or if she was raped.

Dear Reader, Of special note this month is E. Jean Carroll's accusation that President Trump raped her in a Bergdof Goodman department store in the 1990s. I got a punch is the gut moment from Warwick University's casual acceptance of "rape chat" by it's male students. Why are young women treated with such disdain? There's an anonymity challenge from Florida A&M and Dartmouth most likely in anticipation of Betsy DeVos's new regulations. Finally, some good news. Maryland passed a new rape statute and the infamous Wolf Pack in Spain was finally convicted.

One, tell the story. Secrecy only makes it invisible. Two, Accept the fact that when a woman is raped, her life changes forever. Three, every state in the union needs an affirmative consent law.
