Who made the rule that a young woman who becomes drunk and unconscious is fair game for whatever happens? An unconscious woman is incapable of giving consent to sex. It's rape not sex. It's rape not sex. It's not sex; it's rape. Always. No exceptions.
America's leaders are drawn from fraternities. It is where young men learn the three covenants of loyalty, protection and silence. Academic studies show certain fraternities are responsible for 50 to 90% of gang rapes on campuses. This needs to change.
Extra! Extra! The NC legislature passed SB199 today overturning several loophole in NC's sexual assault law. It is no longer legal to proceed with sex when permission has been withdrawn and it is illegal to have sex with someone who is incapacitated. Period. It doesn't matter if she became incapacitated under her own steam or if she was raped.
The story of rape and sexual assault will cleanse the mind and body of accumulated shame that exists there. It is her story to tell and it must be told.
